Rant Time: Adventures in Twitter

Maybe I’m old but I never really got into social media beyond signing up to Facebook in 2007. Of course I write on this here blog, but when I started to write about the more salacious aspects of my lifestyle, I needed to find a more appropriate outlet to publicize my work. So it was that in October of 2018, I finally took to Twitter. It is interesting though that around this time there was a great NSFW purge on other social media platforms like Tumblr and Instagram so there was a sudden influx of new users to Twitter…

Although it started as only auto-tweeting my blog posts I slowly began to tweet out text. Always things too inappropriate to write about here. Jokes of my twisted dry brand of real-life humour and explicit details of our BDSM journeys. Perhaps I have discovered through the experience of writing this blog that I have some deep-seated semi-anonymous textual exhibition kink, but it’s not really about feeding my ego by bragging, that is just a natural consequence of being the person I am and simply talking about it freely. I’ve also learned from this journey that there is some small audience with a taste for this. It is to this small community of kinksters and the kink-curious that I mostly try to reach with my message…

Of course though it hasn’t been all smooth sailing, I wasn’t really sure how my in-your-face style of unvarnished explicit talk would be received. I suppose I expected to be faced with negativity, jealousy, and suspicion, I just never expected that the sole source of these things would come from my wife…

Suddenly every person I followed, or that followed me was perceived as a threat or a personal insult. My wife even went so far as to hack into my account and start blocking whomever didn’t meet her ever-changing standards of ‘propriety’, which is of course a tall order when you run in the circles of sex-bloggers, erotica-writers, kinky freaks and sex-workers. It pains me to admit that Twitter has caused more real life arguments in my home than probably any other issue…

Eventually my wife decided to join Twitter herself, mostly just to keep tabs on me, and promptly followed every account that I have. A funny thing happened though, she also became welcomed into the circles and made connections all of her own. She currently has more followers than I do, she also gets far more direct messages from thirsty men than the few I have from the women she worries so much about…

I feel like we have finally worked through these issues, though it would have been much easier to just give in to her unreasonable demands and close my account. There were bigger issues at stake though, issues of freedom of thought, speech, and association. In spite of all of it’s negative impact on our relationship, Twitter has shown me that there is a whole community of kinksters just like me that write about BDSM and do support each-other, even if just with a meaningless ‘like’ or a kind word(or cat gif). I have made some associations with some really cool people from all around the world and I do feel that it’s been worth it…

If you don’t already, you can find me on Twitter @Philoveritas79 and my amazing other-half is @SweetBBWSub1 please be respectful of our relationship though(No DM’s for nudes/e-sex)…
